The wind howled through the trees
As the birds flew into a cold breeze
Shadows grew long towards the night
Where night and day meet out of sight
Life’s mysteries crawl out of their spaces
Away from prying eyes and scared faces
Waves of fear, fountains of joy
The night brings out for all, girl or boy
Bright moon rising, lighting up night
Souls hiding full of fright
The deepest corner of the sky, the safest
The night will slip and light will end, it’s best
The dark is a lonely place when one is lost
The moon brings warmth to a heart covered in frost
Thawing feelings once put aside, now alive
For others to shine and survive
Darkness, life’s shield, a friend, or foe
Only you know
