I hear the rattling
It’s in every step I take
I feel the weight pushing me down
Their coldness sends chills through me
Soulless cold fingers
Their presence darkens ones existence
Made from hardened steal
Their purpose is to control you
Made with hands skilled in restraint
Strong to look at
Forged with the fires of love
Strong enough to hold your heart
Words hammer the last link closed
The sky grows grey
Words that used to shine now dim and fade away
Can you feel the weight on your shoulders
Could you hear the jingling they make almost like a singing laughter
Can you find that rhythm in your step to follow
Some pull you where you don’t want to go
Others hold you from what you want
Some never let go
Time is the enemy
Each moment is another link
More to carry
Time is a heavy weight on the scales of life
It makes you stand still
Pushes you forward
Chains of steal
Chains of flesh
Chains of emotion
When the weight of the world rests on your shoulders
The pillars beneath you must be strong
For life is long and time is heavy
