The Highway Of Doubt ©©

Time after time I hear the chatter of life
The laughter, the tears
The cheers roaring through clear skies
The wails that pierce the soul in the darkest of night
The skin’s weathered and withered
Lines carved into seasoned leather that measures time
Laughter and pain distort what was born
Into what we see before us
A stranger to any mother
Yet stranger to none other

Down this highway of life
I, we travel blindly with a purpose
Innocently falling into the bondage of social disrepair
Freedom that has a price we are forced to pay
Becoming willing slaves of circumstance
Is it all in vain
We torture our minds with questions we already have answered
This darkness hiding beneath the laughter and smiles
How often I have gone to sleep
Hoping to awaken to another reality

Why do we need to rest to find peace
Someone once said “All you need is love”
He got shot in the back
Fate always awaits us all down the highway of life
Each exit with a different fate
But in the end all exits make their way to the same place
The same destination
Only time will tell your story
Your beginning
Your end
