Blowing Smoke ©©

I watch as the smoke of my addiction rises through the air
I see how the air torments it
Twisting it into a tangled web
Not unlike life itself

In the beginning it’s a thick cloud casting it’s own shadow
Regal in some ways with its smooth dimensions
As it rises it become more transparent
Open to the truth

More smoke rises to thicken the cloud
It only gets bigger
Thick circles shoot through the air
Like empty dreams lost in space

Many empty circles float high above
Out of reach, far from sight
Up into the dark
Until it disappears

The circle of life is like rings of smoke drifting through the air
It starts off strong and beautiful
Later twisted out of shape
Then dispersed forever

Fleeting dreams exhausted by sighing hearts
