A Sliver Of Light ©©

How did I get to this point?
I don’t know, yet I remember
Some how, some way
Time brought me here riding a sliver of light

I started on this road on my own
New, fresh, unspoiled, full of hope
Untainted by life
Innocent to the greed of others

The sun shone brightly in the sky
Filling the world with warmth
Creeping even into the smallest of cracks
Life was full of color

Then the reapers came
The four horsemen of the apocalypse
Shadows announced their arrival
Fear filled the night

One boy was forgotten
Left to be taken
A sacrifice to the darkness
The cost of watching a sunset in the horizon

It was on the edge of oblivion
One blade of light escaped the shadows
Through the curtain of night
Sparking a sliver of hope

The meek rose at the burning gates of hell
The battle was swift
Surprise, the weapon
The reapers fell into the dark pit laughing back

A new reaper was born
Standing alone on the doorway to hell
Still holding a sliver of light
To walk away into the dead of night, cursed

It’s been a long road
Long and expensive
Forty years have passed since that battle
Forty years since I sold my soul to a sliver of light

Still standing on the edge of oblivion
Staring off into the horizon
At another sunset, another day gone by
Another battle won

Mind-boggling, this one. Innocence keeps fading as one grows up and continue to.

I searched the sky for the sun. Staring at it's splendor till it stole my sight.

I love reading your stuff. Even your comments move me.

Walker, I feel like you and I live in the same world but seperated by a veil. Are you well, Walker? Are you loved? Do you love? Is there beauty?

And still, I know the veil is tentative and could come down on me at any minute.
